MARES

"She was iron-sinew'd and satin skinned,

Ribbed like a drum and limb'd like a deer,
Fierce as the fire and fleet as the wind-
There wasn't anything she couldn't climb or clear."
-- A.L. Gordon

Maranatha Pure Delight

Maranatha Pure Delight
(GlanNant Adonis x Meadowlawn Bonnie Blue)

1990 Reg. Section B Mare. 13H Grey. Delight is exactly as her name implies. She has exceptional type and puts big, typy foals on the ground. She is also my son's riding pony when she is not a mother. I would not trade her for the world as she has everything I want in a Welsh pony and reproduces it faithfully.

Summit Pure Country

Summit Pure Country
(Lane's Master Bronze by Gayfields Mastermind x Maranatha Pure Delight)

1997 Reg. Section B Mare. 13.3H Grey. It is such a joy to have Country back home. I thank George Delie who bought her as a yearling for letting me have her back. She was the first purebred Welsh that I ever bred. Not bad for beginner's luck! Country is so similar to her am, Delight, in personality and looks that when she returned I kept calling her the wrong name! Now Country has made her own name for herself with us and takes her rightful place back at the home of her birth.

Misty Mountain Enchantress

Misty Mountain Enchantress
(GlanNant Adonis x Westrum's Fantasia)

1994 Reg. Section B mare, 12.3H Grey Roan. Misty returns home to the place of her birth, in Montana. I met Misty when she was very young at Sheila Benson's farm and then we all moved on. I will never know what inspired me to look at the pedigree portion of a Dreamhorse ad where I saw Misty's name and I inquired about her whereabouts. Long story short, Misty was available and looking for a home that knew her value as a broodmare. I have one Adonis daughter and I have kept tabs on another two. They are truly foundation mares for a Section B breeder like me, consistently outproducing themselves. And these mares are none too shabby themselves!

Starlight's Foxglove

Starlight's Foxglove
(GlanNant Epic x Running Ponys Aclu by Gayfields B Cider)

1993 Reg. Section B mare. 14H Chestnut roan, blaze & hind socks. "Strawberry" as Thalia Gentzel named her has been a most wonderful addition to my mares. I wanted big and I wanted GlanNant and I got it. Strawberry has been trained to drive and ride and has ALWAYS put exceptional foals on the ground for me. She is truly an all-round Welsh mare. I am still waiting for her to give me a filly tokeep since all her colts have been so nice.

Pajon's Royal Spellcaster

Pajon's Royal Spellcaster
(*Rosedale Royal Flare x My-Mar's Highly Sensational)

1996 Reg. Section B mare. 13H, Palomino with 3 stockings and a blaze. Cassie had a great year in 2003. She moved along quite well in her under saddle and over fences training. We showed her in under saddle and over fences classes and in halter in the US and Canada and she did quite well. I had a great time riding her in the gymkhana classes in Okotoks and we won all the classes we entered. She had a blast too. Cassie's foal from Shimmer, as well as her others, have convinced me that she is indispensible to my breeding program.

Mairlod Croes Bronwenit

Mairlod Croes Bronwen
(Gayfields Sweet Willie Wine x Circle of Stars)

1984 Reg. Half Welsh mare, 13.1H , Chestnut with long star, right hind pastern. Bronwen has joined us at Summit after being rescued from unfortunate circumstances. Bronwen has had a long and illustrious show career and has been highly successful as a producer of hunter type performance ponies. Bronwen is at least deserving of a dignified retirement even though she still has so much to offer in so many ways. Time will tell where it is best to put her considerable energy! Bronwen was bred by Stephanie Abronson and her dam, Circle of Stars, was her foundation half-Welsh chestnut mare (sired by Foxhollow Singing Star, Sec. A Welsh, out of Cygnet, an Anglo-Arab).

White Star of Summit

White Star of Summit

1985 Reg. Polish/Crabbet Arabian mare, 14.3H. Star is a great trail horse and has been a exceptional producer in the past. Her movement, carriage and temperament are what I am looking for in an Arab for crossing with Braveheart. She is closing in on 20 years old so we do not know if she will be having more foals. Hopefully, she will and I can have another foal like Jewel. Otherwise, she is wonderful to have around for those people that want to ride & are too big for my ponies-if you can imagine that!
